Pro Interview Lower Thirds for DaVinci Resolve

FreeVisuals Pro lower third pack for DaVinci Resolve. Six Fusion titles for interviews, podcasts, documentaries and talking-head YouTube. Classic name and role, soft centred plate, minimal rule, topic tag, coming up bar and guest wide title. Dark plates. Thin red accent. Open Sans. No plugin.

This is not the film chapter kit and not the red subscribe pack. Those solve different jobs. This ZIP is for naming people on camera. You download it from files.freevisuals.net after a Pro Single Pass, Monthly or Yearly plan.

Quick Answer

Six .setting titles. Copy them into the Resolve Titles folder. Restart. Drag from Effects Library > Titles. Edit the words in the Inspector. Use Classic or Soft for seated interviews. Use Topic Tag for section labels. Use Coming Up for a mid-video tease. Use Guest Wide for a full-width guest intro.

‍

What you get

Six titles. Same family. Built so a podcast, a documentary interview or a YouTube guest segment can share one design language without rebuilding Fusion graphs every time.

  • FV Interview Classic. Left-aligned dark plate, thin red vertical accent, name on top, role under it. Default for seated interviews.
  • FV Interview Soft. Centred plate with a short red rule. Softer lifestyle and brand interview look.
  • FV Interview Minimal. Thin red rule only. Use when a full plate sits on a busy background or a light shirt.
  • FV Topic Tag. Small top-left label. Section markers such as BEHIND THE SCENES or Q AND A.
  • FV Coming Up. Mid or lower bar with a COMING UP label and a short title. Tease the next segment without a full title card.
  • FV Guest Wide. Full-width plate for guest intros. Name large, role under a thin red rule.

Each file is a Fusion Edit title. Change the words in the Edit page Inspector. Open Fusion only if you need to rebuild the layout.

‍

How to install

  1. Download the ZIP after checkout or from your Pro library.
  2. Unzip. You get a Titles folder and readme.txt.
  3. Quit DaVinci Resolve.
  4. Copy the six .setting files into the Titles folder.

Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Templates/Edit/Titles/

Windows: %APPDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Templates\Edit\Titles\

  1. Open Resolve.
  2. Effects Library, Toolbox, Titles.
  3. Find the six FV titles.
  4. Drag onto a track above the picture. Edit text in the Inspector.

If the names do not appear, the files are in the wrong folder or Resolve was still open. Titles live under Fusion/Templates/Edit/Titles, not under Macros or Transitions.

Folder path walkthrough: How to Color Grade in DaVinci Resolve for Beginners is a solid Resolve starter. For title install paths specifically, keep the readme open while you copy the files. Put these in Titles, not Transitions.

‍

How to use each title

Interview Classic

Park it on a track above the interview clip. Type the guest name in Name. Type the role or channel title in Role. Keep the name under three words if you can. Long names wrap and look weak. Hold the lower third for three to five seconds after the guest starts speaking, then cut it or fade it.

Interview Soft

Use when Classic feels too news-like. Centred layout reads cleaner on lifestyle, beauty and brand interviews. Same rule on name length. Role can be longer here because the plate is wider.

Interview Minimal

Use on busy frames, bright clothes or outdoor interviews where a dark plate fights the picture. The thin rule still marks the speaker without covering half the shirt.

Topic Tag

Top left. Short label only. BEHIND THE SCENES, CHAPTER 2, LIVE, Q AND A. Do not paste a sentence. A tag that runs two lines stops reading as a tag.

Coming Up

Drop it before a mid-roll segment or after an ad break in a long interview. Label stays COMING UP or NEXT. Title is the segment name. Two to four words. Hold two or three seconds, then continue the cut.

Guest Wide

Full-width intro when the guest first appears. Larger name, role under the rule. Do not leave it on for the whole interview. Introduce, then switch to Classic or Minimal for the rest of the talk.

‍

Resolve version and plugins

Fusion Edit Titles. Resolve 18 and 19. Free Resolve is enough. No OFX. No paid Fusion plugin.

Timeline size follows the project. A 1920x1080 timeline and a 1080x1920 timeline both work. On 9:16, check position. Classic and Soft may sit under platform UI if you leave the default. Nudge up on vertical timelines.

Default font is Open Sans. If it is missing, pick any clean sans in Font. Do not leave a missing-font box on screen.

What this pack is not

It is not a 3D logo reveal. It is not a subscribe button pack. It is not the brass film chapter kit. If you need MotionVFX camera moves or a big Envato opener, use the premium list on DaVinci Resolve templates. Those open on Envato, Artlist, Motion Array, Motion Elements or MotionVFX. Partner licence, not this ZIP.

Need hooks and a subscribe tag: use Pro Clean Creator Titles for DaVinci Resolve. Need chapter cards and location bugs: use Pro Film Chapter Kit. Need soft wipes on the cut: use Pro Film Wipe Kit. Do not stack three packs in the same five seconds.

‍

Pairing on FreeVisuals

Grade the interview before you judge the lower third. A dark plate on an uncorrected log image looks muddy. Convert log first, balance skin, then drop the title. Pro LUT packs on Premium LUTs help when the series needs one consistent grade.

Music under a long interview: Artlist or Epidemic Sound. Keep beds low under speech. A whoosh on every lower third makes the pack sound like a trailer.

Bigger Resolve template sets after this pack: Envato, Motion Array or MotionVFX. Those are affiliate. A Pro pass does not unlock them.

Do not drag these .setting files into Premiere or CapCut. They are Fusion titles.

‍

Free vs this pack

The free and premium rows on DaVinci Resolve templates include partner lower thirds and free starter titles. This pack is owned. One ZIP. Same six cards every episode so the series does not change nameplate style every upload.

Pro Monthly and Yearly unlock this pack plus other Pro rows. Single Pass unlocks this ZIP only. Affiliate packs on the same page do not unlock with Pro.

‍

A weekly interview pipeline

Install the six files once. Do not recopy them from the ZIP every upload. In the first project, put Classic on track 3 for the guest and Topic Tag on track 4 for section labels. Duplicate that project for the next episode. Change only the words.

Batch one long interview. Mark guest name, role, section tags and one coming-up point. Apply the same Classic style across the full cut. Switch to Guest Wide only for the first appearance. Channels that mix eight lower third styles in one episode look unfinished.

If you also use the Film Chapter Kit, keep chapter cards for act breaks and these lower thirds for people. Different jobs. Different tracks.

‍

Length, position and when less is better

Most interview lower thirds should leave the frame after a few seconds. Viewers need the name once. Leaving Classic on for twenty minutes turns a title into a permanent banner and pulls the eye off the face.

On 16:9, Classic sits lower left by design. On 9:16, move it up so it clears captions and platform chrome. Test a Short export before you lock the series template.

Match the plate to the grade. A cold blue interview grade under a warm red accent still works because the accent is small. A neon background under Guest Wide can fight the dark plate. In that case switch to Minimal.

Spell names correctly before you render. A lower third is where typos get screenshot and shared. Check role titles with the guest when you can.

‍

9:16 and long-form

The same files work on a vertical timeline. Faces sit high on Shorts, so lower thirds need more headroom than on 16:9. Classic and Soft may need a vertical nudge. Topic Tag can stay top left if it clears the username area on the platform you publish to.

Long-form can hold a lower third longer on first introduction. A Short usually cannot. Two to three seconds on 9:16 is enough for a name, then clear the frame for captions.

‍

Common mistakes

  • Copying the ZIP into Titles without unzipping.
  • Putting the files in Transitions or Macros.
  • Leaving Resolve open during the copy.
  • Pasting a full bio into Role.
  • Leaving Classic on for the entire interview.
  • Mixing this pack with three other lower third styles in one episode.
  • Leaving Open Sans selected when the font is not installed.

FAQ

Does this work in the free version of Resolve?

Yes. Fusion titles do not need Studio.

Do I need a plugin?

No.

Can I use this on 9:16?

Yes. Switch the timeline to 1080x1920 and check position. Classic and Soft may need a nudge so they clear Shorts UI and captions.

Why do I not see the titles in Effects?

Wrong folder or Resolve was not restarted. Confirm the path in the readme. Titles go in Fusion/Templates/Edit/Titles.

Can I change the red accent?

The accent is baked into the Fusion graph. Open the title in Fusion if you need a different colour. The Inspector on the Edit page changes the words and type size.

Will this open in Premiere?

No. Fusion .setting only.

Is this the same as Pro Clean Creator Titles?

No. That pack is hook, lower third, end card and subscribe tag for faceless and Shorts style content. This pack is interview nameplates, topic tags and guest intros.

Is this the same as Pro Film Chapter Kit?

No. That pack is chapter cards, quotes, location bugs and credits. This pack is for naming people on camera.

Does Pro unlock the Envato lower thirds on the same page?

No. Partner files use the partner licence.

‍

Wrap

Pick Classic and Topic Tag and keep them for the series. Change only the words. A channel that swaps lower third packs every episode looks unfinished.

Download once. Store the ZIP on your drive. When FreeVisuals revises the pack, replace the six files and keep any custom Fusion versions in a side folder.

Search terms this page should earn: DaVinci Resolve lower third, Resolve interview titles, Fusion name plate, podcast lower third Resolve, documentary guest title. That is why the H1 stays on interview lower thirds and Resolve.
