Pro Vertical Stories Titles for DaVinci Resolve

FreeVisuals Pro title pack for 9:16 Shorts, Reels and Stories in DaVinci Resolve. Six Fusion titles: hook, caption, name tag, label, end CTA and number. Built for vertical safe zones. Dark plates. Thin red accent. Open Sans. No plugin.

This is not the interview lower thirds pack and not the film chapter kit. Those solve 16:9 interview and documentary jobs. This ZIP is for vertical cuts where the first frame and the mid caption matter more than a classic left nameplate. You download it from files.freevisuals.net after a Pro Single Pass, Monthly or Yearly plan.

Quick Answer

Six .setting titles. Copy them into the Resolve Titles folder. Restart. Set the timeline to 1080x1920. Drag from Effects Library > Titles. Edit the words in the Inspector. Use Hook on the open. Use Caption for the claim. Use Name Tag for the creator. Use End CTA before the cut.

What you get

Six titles. Same family. Built so a Shorts series can open, claim, label and close without rebuilding Fusion graphs every upload.

  • FV Stories Hook. Large upper-third line for the first frame. Short. High contrast. Built to stop a scroll.
  • FV Stories Caption. Two-line mid frame plate. Line one is the claim. Line two supports it.
  • FV Stories Name Tag. Bottom plate with name and handle. Keeps the creator visible without a full lower third.
  • FV Stories Label. Small red pill for NEW, TIP, LIVE or PART 2 near the top.
  • FV Stories End CTA. Dark plate near the lower third with a main CTA and a short sub line.
  • FV Stories Number. Big list number plus a short label. Built for ranked lists and mistake series.

Each file is a Fusion Edit title. Change the words in the Edit page Inspector. Open Fusion only if you need to rebuild the layout.

How to install

  1. Download the ZIP after checkout or from your Pro library.
  2. Unzip. You get a Titles folder and readme.txt.
  3. Quit DaVinci Resolve.
  4. Copy the six .setting files into the Titles folder.

Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/Blackmagic Design/DaVinci Resolve/Fusion/Templates/Edit/Titles/

Windows: %APPDATA%\Blackmagic Design\DaVinci Resolve\Support\Fusion\Templates\Edit\Titles\

  1. Open Resolve.
  2. Create or open a 1080x1920 timeline for Shorts.
  3. Effects Library, Toolbox, Titles.
  4. Find the six FV Stories titles.
  5. Drag onto a track above the picture. Edit text in the Inspector.

If the names do not appear, the files are in the wrong folder or Resolve was still open. Titles live under Fusion/Templates/Edit/Titles, not under Macros or Transitions.

Useful Resolve grounding for beginners: How to Color Grade in DaVinci Resolve for Beginners. Keep the readme open while you copy the files. Put these in Titles, not Transitions.

How to use each title

Stories Hook

First frame. One short line. Three to five words if you can. STOP SCROLLING, WATCH THIS, DO NOT DO THIS. Hold one to two seconds, then cut or dissolve into the action. A hook that runs a full sentence is too slow for vertical.

Stories Caption

Mid frame claim after the open. Line one is the point. Line two is the support. Keep both short. On a nine second Short, one caption is enough. Two captions start to feel like a slide deck.

Stories Name Tag

Bottom of frame. Name and handle. Leave room above platform captions and UI. On Instagram and TikTok the lower edge is busy. Nudge up if the handle sits under the platform chrome in a test export.

Stories Label

Small top pill. NEW, TIP, LIVE, PART 2. One or two words. Do not paste a sentence into the pill. A long label stops reading as a badge.

Stories End CTA

Last two or three seconds. FOLLOW FOR PART 2, FULL VIDEO ON THE CHANNEL, SAVE THIS. Sub line can point to the long form or the next Short. Do not leave the CTA on for the whole clip.

Stories Number

List series. Big number, short label under it. 01 MISTAKE, 02 FIX, 03 RESULT. Change only the number and label between episodes so the series looks consistent.

Why vertical needs its own pack

A classic left lower third that works on a 16:9 interview often sits under platform UI on 9:16. Faces sit higher. Captions take the bottom. Safe zones change. This pack places hook, caption, label, name and CTA where vertical viewers already look.

You can still drop these on a 16:9 timeline. Check position. Hook and Caption may sit higher than you want on a landscape cut. Nudge them or use the interview pack for long form talking heads.

Resolve version and plugins

Fusion Edit Titles. Resolve 18 and 19. Free Resolve is enough. No OFX. No paid Fusion plugin.

Best results on a 1080x1920 project. A 1920x1080 project will still load the titles. Scale and position will need a pass. Default font is Open Sans. If it is missing, pick any clean sans in Font. Do not leave a missing-font box on screen.

What this pack is not

It is not a CapCut template export. It is not a Premiere mogrt. It is not the interview lower thirds pack. If you need MotionVFX vertical packs or a large Envato Stories set, use the premium list on DaVinci Resolve templates. Those open on Envato, Artlist, Motion Array, Motion Elements or MotionVFX. Partner licence, not this ZIP.

Need interview nameplates: use Pro Interview Lower Thirds. Need hooks and subscribe tags for mixed aspect: use Pro Clean Creator Titles. Need chapter cards: use Pro Film Chapter Kit. Need soft wipes: use Pro Film Wipe Kit. Do not stack four packs in one five second Short.

Pairing on FreeVisuals

Grade the vertical clip before you judge the title. A dark plate on uncorrected log looks muddy. Convert log first, then drop the title. Pro LUT packs on Premium LUTs help when a Shorts series needs one consistent grade.

Music under a vertical cut: Artlist or Epidemic Sound. Keep the bed low under speech. A whoosh on every title makes the Short feel like a trailer, not a tip.

Bigger Resolve template sets after this pack: Envato, Motion Array or MotionVFX. Those are affiliate. A Pro pass does not unlock them.

Do not drag these .setting files into CapCut or Premiere. They are Fusion titles.

Free vs this pack

The free and premium rows on DaVinci Resolve templates include partner vertical packs and free starter titles. This pack is owned. One ZIP. Same six cards every Short so the series does not change type style every upload.

Pro Monthly and Yearly unlock this pack plus other Pro rows. Single Pass unlocks this ZIP only. Affiliate packs on the same page do not unlock with Pro.

A weekly Shorts pipeline

Install the six files once. Do not recopy them from the ZIP every upload. Build one 1080x1920 project with Hook on track 3, Caption on track 4, Name Tag on track 5. Duplicate that project for the next Short. Change only the words.

Batch five clips in one session. Write five hooks in a notes app first. Apply the same Hook style across the batch. Channels that mix eight title styles in five days look like a template dump. Pick one caption style per series. Keep the other titles for a different series or a client.

If a Short also needs product stills, keep the title family the same and change only the footage. Consistency converts better than a prettier unrelated type treatment.

Length, position and platform UI

Most vertical titles should leave the frame after a few seconds. Viewers need the hook once. Leaving Caption on for the full clip turns a title into a permanent banner and fights auto captions.

Test export to the platform before you lock the series template. Instagram, TikTok and YouTube Shorts place UI in different corners. Name Tag and End CTA are the most likely to collide. Nudge up rather than shrinking the type until it is hard to read.

Match the plate to the grade. A cold vertical grade under a red pill still works because the accent is small. A neon background under End CTA can fight the dark plate. In that case shorten the CTA hold or switch to Hook only.

Spell the handle correctly before you render. A name tag is where typos get screenshot.

9:16 and 16:9

Default design assumes 1080x1920. On 16:9, Hook may sit too high and Caption may feel large. Use the interview pack for long form talking heads. Use this pack when the master is vertical or when you cut a vertical version from a landscape interview.

If you publish both, keep the same words and the same red accent family so the Short matches the long form brand. Different layouts, same design language.

Common mistakes

  • Copying the ZIP into Titles without unzipping.
  • Putting the files in Transitions or Macros.
  • Leaving Resolve open during the copy.
  • Writing a full sentence into Hook.
  • Leaving Caption on for the entire Short.
  • Ignoring platform UI and covering the handle.
  • Mixing this pack with three other title styles in one series.
  • Leaving Open Sans selected when the font is not installed.

Single Pass unlocks this pack. Monthly or Yearly unlocks every Pro template on the Resolve hub and other Pro rows across the site.

FAQ

Does this work in the free version of Resolve?

Yes. Fusion titles do not need Studio.

Do I need a plugin?

No.

Is this only for 9:16?

It is built for 9:16. It still loads on 16:9. Check position and scale on landscape timelines.

Why do I not see the titles in Effects?

Wrong folder or Resolve was not restarted. Confirm the path in the readme. Titles go in Fusion/Templates/Edit/Titles.

Can I change the red accent?

The accent is baked into the Fusion graph. Open the title in Fusion if you need a different colour. The Inspector on the Edit page changes the words and type size.

Will this open in CapCut or Premiere?

No. Fusion .setting only.

Is this the same as Pro Interview Lower Thirds?

No. That pack is nameplates, topic tags and guest intros for interviews. This pack is vertical hook, caption, label, CTA and list numbers for Shorts and Reels.

Is this the same as Pro Clean Creator Titles?

No. That pack is a mixed-aspect creator set with hook, lower third, end card and subscribe tag. This pack is built around 9:16 safe zones and list style numbers.

Does Pro unlock the Envato vertical packs on the same page?

No. Partner files use the partner licence.

Wrap

Pick Hook, Caption and Name Tag and keep them for the series. Change only the words. A channel that swaps title packs every Short looks unfinished.

Download once. Store the ZIP on your drive. When FreeVisuals revises the pack, replace the six files and keep any custom Fusion versions in a side folder.

Search terms this page should earn: DaVinci Resolve Shorts titles, Resolve 9:16 templates, vertical titles Resolve, Fusion Stories titles, Reels title pack Resolve. That is why the H1 stays on vertical Stories titles and Resolve.
